Investigative journalists, data specialists and coding whiz kids will once again gather in Brussels this year for the fourth edition of Journalismfund.eu’s Dataharvest Conference. Dataharvest+ takes place on Friday 9, Saturday 10 and Sunday morning 11 May 2014.

Scraping allows you to gather information from hundreds of webpages, documents or spreadsheets, saving days or weeks of legwork and reducing the scope for human error. In this introductory session Paul Bradshaw outlines some basics of scraping from his book Scraping for Journalists.
Getting the data is one thing, but making it easy for journalists to use is another. Learn about the growing practice of separating data from journalism, and simple techniques for making data usable by reporters with on the ground knowledge.
